Unlike commercial stores, Oxfam Shop doesn’t order from big-name companies. Everything we sell was supplied by patrons like you.
Although we don’t have any hard limits on what we do/don’t accept, please bear the following in mind:
- We assume good faith. Please don’t give us garbage.
- Perishables—including food, plants, and live animals—will be tossed when they start to perish. However, we make an effort to preserve anything that might make a nice mantle ornament; naturally technicolor eggs and taxidermied chimeras are a top seller.
- Explosives, items that look like explosives, and objects that come alive in the night are STRONGLY discouraged. (This includes protective talismans!)
- That said, we understand other stores are reluctant to take potentially lethal objects. If you must donate potentially destructive objects, we’d appreciate instructions on nullifying the harmful effects. We also assume no liability for any damage that may occur from your negligence.
- We have a bookdrop in the back. If written material is dropped off at the counter, it tends to stay there until our cashier reads through it all.
We do NOT accept donations by mail, sorry! We’d appreciate it if you only dropped items off during our open hours; we assume no responsibility for lost or stolen goods otherwise. No appointment necessary, but appreciated for large hauls.
